The "Dungeon Creator" Process
Posted November 14th, 2007 at 3:22am CST by JacerylEnterbrain has announced the newest piece of information about RPG Maker VX. As spoken by Arts Kawashima:
The other day we had the company physical examinations. In this industry, there are many people living an unhealthy life, so I honestly believe this was well-appreciated. In this industry, I'm occasionally told to try "sleeping in my chair" and the like by students, but I wouldn't be so quick to laugh about it coming to that point...
I'd like to further explain the "Dungeon Creator" process introduced on Tsukuuru Web.
Dungeon Creator
I thought I'd make a dungeon, but I can't figure out what it'll look like. For people for which this is the case, we have prepared the "Dungeon Creator" function.
Even if you have the form down, looking at the map chips and deciding what will be the floor and what will be the wall can be hard for beginners. Even if you've easily set it all up, you cannot really draw it well in the beginning. Surely, these poor lost lambs will also make use of the Dungeon Creator.
1) First you must make a map as you normally do with the "Map Set-Up".
As the creator function will not work properly if it's too small, aim for no less than 50x50 when preparing the map.
2) Right click on the name of the map you've made and choose "Dungeon Creator" at the very bottom of the menu.
3) Choose an image for your floor and wall. The items are ordered in pairs, so at times when you're unsure of which to choose, just select images in the same position.
4) In the blink of an eye, a dungeon like this will be created.
From this point on, you can make some adjustments. Size and images can be changed. Also, if you use the "Dungeon Creator" once again without changing the size or images, the dungeon will be created again with a different form. You can redo it until you're pleased with the results.
By the way, this is a dungeon created in 200x200. Who's hiding inside?
My Typical Cool-Looking Animations
Posted November 13th, 2007 at 5:36am CST by DurandalEnterbrain has announced the newest piece of information about RPG Maker VX. As spoken by Toshie:
I want to make a really cool looking game, so the thing I like to fuss over is the battle animations.
In particular, the finishing touches are being made on the animations in RPG Maker VX so that they look quite cool.
After all, I was thinking of their original animations.
Now, looking at the picture, I believe there are some people who will be under the impression that the animation is a bit different than previous installments.
This is because we made use of many added components, which resulted in having more highlighted animation effects.
We want you to feel the "light" in this picture.
One portion of the famous Lightning Bind is still in good health.
Thinking "let's give it the fighting game image!!", we somehow managed this after about 11 tries.
Well then, later!
The 'Counter Attribute' is Automatically Affixed
Posted November 12th, 2007 at 5:04am CST by DurandalEnterbrain has announced the newest piece of information about RPG Maker VX. As spoken by Arts Kawashima:
What's the Counter Attribute?
When you make a weapon shop, inn, or other shop, you will generally insert a counter and place the shop owner behind it.
And although the owner may be set to act as the store event, errors where the counter becomes an obstacle and the main character cannot initiate conversation frequently arise.
Therefore, in our previous work, XP, the map tile itself could have the "counter" attribute attached to it, and those with that attribute attached could allow events to be carried out over the counter.
The Counter Attribute in VX
However, since it was also believed that such would prove troublesome, the counter attribute has changed in VX.
Now, specific map tiles have had the counter attribute affixed and those tiles added in advance.
These are four kinds of desks, found in the A set, which can be stretched in all directions.
By dragging, you can make the desk this big. This desk is one that has the "counter attribute" affixed to it.
[picture text: The protagonist cannot trespass beyond this shop counter.]
Establish the counter and then place the shop owner.
By all rights, an event that couldn't execute because they weren't adjacent to the player can now be executed because of the counter attribute's ability to cross over the desk (as long as they are one space away).
Now beginners should be able to intuitively create counter events.
Sorry for the lag...
Posted November 9th, 2007 at 4:33am CST by DurandalSorry for the lag time in posts.
When I originally wrote the RSS script I didn't compensate for daylight saving going in and out of effect. I've since rectified that so adding new posts should be a breeze year-round.
Expression Icon Display
Posted November 9th, 2007 at 4:00am CST by DurandalEnterbrain has announced the newest piece of information about RPG Maker VX. As spoken by Arts Kawashima:
We had to clean up water that a co-worker spilled on the floor with a dust rag. The one who spilled it was Director M. He just stared at us for a moment and said "I see. It's Bee Mario!", before leaving, him being the only one that understood.
Today I will explain one the of event commands, the "Expression Icon Display"
Expression Icon Display
In order to express feelings such as "!" and "?" with icons, we have Expression Icons, which can imply a variety of faces.
Even though we had the images compiled in our previous work, making the icon appear took a bit of work.
Therefore, this time we've prepared them as event commands, meaning that you can easily display them.
Just select the player, or one of the event numbers on the map, and choose from 10 kinds of expressions one you wish to display. The expression will automatically display overhead (one panel above the event) at the designated spot. The icon will animate for a short moment and then vanish.
