RPG Maker VX News

Crossing the Rubicon
Posted December 21st, 2007 at 10:48am CST by DurandalI've recently heard that certain people apparently aren't liking it that RMVXnet appears to support the idea of making an illegal crack of the trial version of RPG Maker VX Trial and probably the full thing once it comes out.
It first started when someone released a simple mod that altered the Japanese Text to English.
It has always been my belief that whenever necessary one should lean the rules just a little in support of the act of creation. The extent of this lean as witnessed here is that RMVXnet is tolerating the text-conversion mod. We will continue to do so, but only because it's simply allowing people to understand the trial program a little better because it's in their own freakin' language. However, there is a limit to how much will be tolerated.
Until further notice, the limitation-removing crack is banned.
The line (also known as the rubicon) was crossed when the nature of the program was intrinsically changed in a major way. (Merely changing the displayed language doesn't count as "major") The people that made the limitations-removing crack hacked the program beyond acceptable tolerances, resulting in it no longer qualifying as a mere "mod", but a full-blown software "crack".I shouldn't really have to justify this. The board rules state that posting or posting links to "cracks" is illegal under the "No posting illegal materials" rule.
That is all... for now.
If you want to debate the issue with me, I'll be in the chatroom.

We Had a Display Corner Made For Us
Posted November 28th, 2007 at 5:43am CST by JacerylEnterbrain has announced the newest piece of information about RPG Maker VX. As spoken by Arts Kawashima:
A special exhibition corner for RPG Maker VX was made for us at the Yamada Electronics' LABI of Shinagawa-Oimachi*. I believe that the Promotional Video is currently playing on the screens above the computers.
We're incredibly happy that such a corner was made for us. Thanks so much, Yamada Electronics.
To everybody in the shop: the company sales head should be rushing off now with special order items. We'll be waiting for your response!
TL Note:
*LABI is a type of urban, multi-level shopping mall owned by Yamada Electronics
Promotional Video, The Secret "Making-Of" Story (Part 3)
Posted November 27th, 2007 at 5:11am CST by JacerylEnterbrain has announced the newest piece of information about RPG Maker VX. As spoken by Arts Kawashima:
This may be a bit sudden, but have you noticed that there's a link you can click for the English version on the RPG Maker VX page ?
By clicking "English" at the top right, the page will change entirely to English.
The updates are one pace behind the Japanese version, but we do have a page geared towards those in foreign places.
From the look of it, it seems as though the only difference is the English, with no new original information for the Japanese side. However, the point is that we've actually completely switched the promotional video to English. Hearing the English version will give you a new impression.
Now, we have a voice actor for the English version, but it obviously couldn't be Seki for this one, too. Actually, the voice actor is also the man who took the role of voicing the XP English promotional video in the past.
His name is ALEX.
Reunited after 2 years! ... is what I'd say if I weren't just meeting him for the first time. He has a nice, lively voice, so we used him in consecutive roles.
In his previous work, we made the movie to just have him yelling "RPG MAKER XP!" over and over again, but this time he read the English translation of the Japanese script as it was (the video is the same as the Japanese version).
While 3D is the mainstream overseas, it seems 2D is also surprisingly popular. I've heard games that are made there often have Made-In-Japan designs prepared. I will take it as a positive aspect that the creator's soul is fostered even in foreign countries.
For XP, with the wishes of overseas users, the English version was released about a year after the Japanese release. For VX, however, the release is planned for two months after the Japanese release.
In addition, aside from just the English-speaking world, our outlooks have expanded to Germany, France, Mexico, Spain, and others.
The Maker program: planned for expansion all throughout the world. As a matter of fact, it's a world-wide software. No matter where you travel overseas to, you'll be able to play a version of VX. We look forward to all the possibilities this will bring.
